Frequently Asked Questions

Why did you choose Vienna?

I studied abroad in Vienna on a whim during my bachelors program, and I decided to come back for my masters because of inexpensive education, access to affordable healthcare, and I fell in love- with the country and an Austrian man. I love to travel, so being located in Central Europe gives me more access to destinations such as Prague, Budapest, Bratislava, and many more! The quality of life is high (low-violence, rent control, public parks, great public transportation) and the people are kind in their own special way.

Where do you go to school & is your program in English?

I go to the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) in Vienna, Austria where I study Natural Resource Management & Ecological Engineering. There are many program's in Europe that are English only, and my classes/exams are all in English.

Is your degree recognized in the USA?

Yes! My masters degree is internationally recognized and applicable in the USA if I decide to return for work.

Do you speak German/ Can you live in Vienna without knowing German?

I am learning German every day, but when I first moved here I knew nothing! It is possible to live here without German, but I do not recommend since many people do not speak English (or at least they are not comfortable speaking English). Learn some basics: specifically numbers, fruits, vegetables, directions, and how to order at a restaurant!
